Chef Gaddoni and students from the Argonaut Culinary Arts program attended the 73rd Annual California Family, Careers, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Virtual State Leadership Conference held on April 25, 2020.

FCCLA is a Career and Technical Student Organization for students in Grades 6–12 who are enrolled in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) educational programs in the California public schools.

The theme of the 2020 conference, “Your Story,” inspires members to share their journey and leadership opportunities in FCCLA. The meeting included an opening general session, a business session, State Officer FCS career development webinars, and Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) events. State finalists in over 26 chapters, teams, and individual events participated.

Approximately 75 chapters, including 650 FCCLA chapter members, advisors, administrators, and business and industry representatives attended from across the state. FCCLA members competed in 26 events for over $1,344,585 in cash and scholarships in leadership and career development areas.

Also, I hope this years State Officers and this presentation inspire you to participate in FCCLA activities. California FCCLA and National FCCLA offer a lot of cool opportunities for our members, including leadership, community service projects, capital leadership advocacy, competitions and travel. And of course, you don’t want to forget the Golden State Degree Program.

If you are interested in becoming a Chapter Officer, email Chef Gaddoni for an application. All Officer applications are due Friday, May 1st.

Once you become a Chapter Officer, you can move up to become a Region Officer, a California State Officer or even a National FCCLA Officer, by the time you are a senior in high school!! No one from California has ever been elected to to become a FCCLA National Officer.
