Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Week

Next week is Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Week.
We are partnering with Amador County Public Health to spread awareness of childhood lead poisoning - see the attached flyer for more information.

Small children are at the greatest risk of harm from lead poisoning. At young ages, even small amounts of lead can cause lifelong problems with learning and development.

For that reason, a blood test is required at ages 1 and 2 for children enrolled in Medi-Cal, WIC, or Head Start. Beginning this year, testing is also recommended for children at risk of exposure. For children up to age 6, testing is covered by most insurance plans, including Medi-Cal.

Jaguar Pride

Every Tuesday, Jackson Junior High staff members wear Jaguar-themed clothing to show their Jaguar Pride. District Office staff attending on-site meetings noticed and decided to participate!

Lucky Tray Day

The Friday before October Break was Lucky Tray Day at all elementary schools in our district! Stickers were placed on the bottom of several random lunch trays, and students who picked a tray with a sticker won a special prize.
The prizes, along with tasty fresh produce from the school farm, had all of the students excited to eat lunch!
